About CalRTA Mendocino County, Division 55.

Our division begins about 100 miles North of San Francisco. It is flanked on the west by a scenic coast with redwood trees spilling down mountains to coastal cliffs and white cap beaches. Along Coastal Highway 1 there are picturesque inns and a few small towns like Mendocino and Fort Bragg.

Most of our 250 members live an hour drive away across the mountains in Ukiah and Willits. These towns are along Highway 101  in the vineyard rich Russian River Valley which forms the eastern flank of our division.

As an affiliate of the California Retired Teachers Association we are very active in our support of State and National government actions that enhance or protect our pension benefits.

As a statewide association, CalRTA has 12 areas. Our division belongs in Area 1 which contains 7 divisions stretching from the Golden Gate to the Oregon border.

As retired educators, our interest in assisting people has continued into retirement. We provide scholarships and donate thousands of hours to volunteer organizations.

As former eductors, we realize the importance of socializing and staying informed. Each year we have 4 general luncheon meetings. This year, these will be held on the fourth Monday in October (Ukiah), January (Willits), and March (Ukiah) with the last on the first Monday of June in Ft. Bragg.  Information about these meetings are contained in a newsletter which is sent out a month preceding each meeting.
